Founded in 1670, Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC), is North America’s longest continually operated company. With 90 locations across the country, the HBC-operated Hudson’s Bay is Canada’s largest department store.
Launched in 2009, the Hudson's Bay Company Signature Collection celebrates HBC’s unique history with a select offering of unique items. Inspired by the Company's historical icons the Collection is anchored by the popular HBC Point Blanket.
The Hudson’s Bay point blanket is the most iconic piece from the HBC Signature Collection. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the wool blanket was commonly traded for beaver pelts with First Nations and Native Americans. The distinctive point patterns on the blankets, or thin indigo lines, represent the size and weight of the blanket. The blanket is also distinctive due to the classic pattern of green, red, yellow and indigo stripes. This iconic pattern can be found on coats, accessories, apparel and house wares from the HBC Collection. HBC’s in-house design team works with designers, artisans and manufacturers to ensure that every item in the collection meets the highest quality standards of style, materials and craftsmanship.
