Thomas A Hill founded Sunspel in 1860. His revolutionary idea to make simple, everyday clothing from beautiful fabrics soon established Sunspel as a pioneer in British craftsmanship. Sunspel continues this tradition today.

Sunspel has always been innovators with a history of introducing new kinds of clothes and developing its own unique fabrics. The foundation of Sunspel design rests in precise craftsmanship and a philosophy of continually refining and perfecting its clothes. It is by following this process that it has created iconic products such as the Sunspel t-shirt, the Sunspel boxer short and the Sunspel polo shirt.

Sunspel’s original factory remains in Long Eaton, Nottingham; and it is there that it uses skills learned over generations to create hand made garments. It constantly reviews age-old techniques and applies them in new ways to create garments that are unique, innovative and speak for themselves. It continues to make many of its clothes in Long Eaton today and when it does not, it works with partners around the world to ensure that its clothes are of the highest quality.
